Decriminalization: What Does It Mean?
Decriminalization of entheogenic plants has been on the rise throughout Michigan over the past few years.
What does this actually mean, though? In reference to the Oxford Dictionary, decriminalization means “the action or process of ceasing to treat something as illegal or as a criminal offense.” In simpler terms, the object remains illegal but no longer meets the need for prosecution.
Positive Impacts to the Community
Despite the stigma behind entheogenic plants and fungi, they’ve become a stepping stone to modern day natural healing. Universities throughout the United States have begun researching the positive impacts to the medical and scientific worlds, leading individuals to become interested in if this could potentially help them. As more of our population becomes interested in entheogenic medicines, the more science is able to evolve to better understand what is happening to achieve these results.
